The Lions have cut cornerback Aaron Berry, who was arrested for the second time in a month early Saturday in his hometown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and charged with three counts of simple assault for allegedly brandishing a firearm. Berry, who was about to begin his third year with Detroit, was also arrested in June on suspicion of driving under the influence. Lions President Tom Lewand said that there will be appropriate consequences when an expected standard of behavior is not upheld.
Berry’s arrest was the seventh by a Lions player during the offseason.
Meanwhile, Detroit yesterday signed rookie offensive lineman Riley Reiff to a four-year, 8-million dollar contract. Reiff was the Lion’s first-round pick out of Iowa and 23rd overall selection. Detroit now has every member of their most recent draft class under contract. Lion’s rookies and injured players reported Monday to Allen Park, while veterans will check in tomorrow with training camp practice starting Friday.
