KALAMAZOO (WTVB) - WMU’s Trustees are expected to approve their budget for the coming year this afternoon and set the tuition rate that will help pay for it. Unlike every other local unit of government, which is very transparent when it comes to budgets, fees and expenditures, WMU’s Budget and tuition setting process is closed to public input, the figures only revealed minutes before it goes to a vote. We can only guess that it will be below the 4% ceiling set by the legislature. Any higher than that and the University would lose state funding. Today’s board meeting will get underway at 12:30.
