DETROIT (WKZO) -- Matty Moroun, owner of the Ambassador Bridge, says that his company has spent more than 4.5-million dollars on a campaign to put the future of a second span in the hands of the voters. That's in addition to more than nine-million-dollars Moroun has spent on television advertising in the past two years.
Earlier this month, over 600-thousand petition signatures were submitted to the Secretary of State's office in an attempt to have the issue put on the November ballot. Those petitions are being processed to determine whether the requisite 322-thousand are valid.
