COLDWATER (WTVB) - It’s the Good Housekeeping Seal for Community Foundations and once again it belongs to the Branch County Community Foundation. The BCCF says it recently received word that it has met the nation’s highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity and accountability. The notice comes from the Community Foundations National Standards Board, a national accreditation organization. Colleen Knight, Community Foundation executive director says they first went through the confirmation process in 2006, and they’re proud to be re-confirmed in 2012. According to Knight, when people make a charitable bequest or establish a fund, they are putting their trust in the local foundation and the National Standards seal says that their house is in order. The Branch County Community Foundation offers a range of charitable funds, allowing donors to advance a cause such as education or the environment, support an individual organization, provide flexible support for community needs or recommend individual grants. Mary Jo Kranz, Community Foundation board chair, says when you see the National Standards Seal, you can be assured that the BCCF is committed to meeting the highest standards for grant making as well.
