COLDWATER (WTVB) - The Community Health Center of Branch County is a county owned hospital but it’s not funded by the county. The CHC Board of Trustees last night discussed how many people appear to believe the health center stays in business because of tax dollars when in fact, the facility is self-funded.

The hospital is reporting a year-to-date profit for the first six months of 2012 of $758,000, compared to $378,000 a year ago. CHC faces the challenge of staying in the black against projected bad debt for this year of $6,800,000, while the hospital is also expected to pay for an estimated $1,700,000 in charity care this year.
