The Ugly Betty star has started up the America For America website to help eligible voters get registered and to urge members of the Latin community to head to the polls on Election Day in November (12).
She says, ""I am one of more than 22 million American Latinos who can vote this year. 2012 is a big election year and Latinos could decide many races across the country, even the presidency. But if we wanna make a difference, we have to take action.
""Until now, too many young Latinos have been left out of the political process. Voter registration rates are low and on Election Day, lots of voters in our community stay at home.
""The America For America campaign (is) our way of making sure Latinos are empowered to register, vote and make a difference on Election Day. This year, we have a chance to vote for our future. Join me in my campaign to make sure every American gets their shot to make an impact in 2012.""
Latinos have the lowest voting registration rates of any demographic group in the U.S.
