LIVONIA (WKZO) -- Republican leaders in southeast Michigan say former state Senator Nancy Cassis is their pick to run a write-in campaign in the August primary for the Eleventh Congressional District.  Oakland County Republican Party Chairman Jim Thienel told the MIRS news service in Lansing that Cassis was the best candidate available in the district.

Incumbent Congressman Thaddeus McCotter won't be on the ballot because he failed to have enough valid petition signatures.  McCotter also ended his attempt at a write-in campaign and says he will work with law enforcement to try to find out what happened with his petitions once his congressional career ends.
