BRONSON (WTVB) Extra inning games and exciting pay highlighted a Saturday of regional baseball and softball action for three area teams, but in the end the Coldwater and Quincy baseball teams and the Bronson softball teams all came up short in their quest for regional titles. At the Edwardsburg Division 2 baseball regional, Coldwater rallied from three runs down to tie their semi final contest with South Haven, finaly pulling out the win 6-5 in 10 innings. Earlier in the day St Joseph upset top ranked Richland Gull Lake 6-5 in 8 innings to advance. In the regional championship game, the Cardinals got behind early and fell to St Joseph 14-1.
Quincy's Division 3 regional semi-final game at Bronson also went into extra innings, as they fell to Parchment 10-9 in 9 innings. Buchanan went on to beat Parchment 14-4 in 5 nnings to win the regional title. In another area regional, Hillsdale beat East Jackson 7-4 to advance to the quarterfinals next week.
The host Bronson girls softball team won their Division 3 regional semi-final game 1-0 over Comstock. Buchanan beat Watervliet in the other semi-final to advance. The Vikings came up short though in the championship game, losing to Buchanan 5-4.
