A visitor to the state was killed and his friend from Three Rivers injured when the car they were in went out of control on Burlington Road in Marcellus Township just before 7:00 Saturday morning, bounced off a tree and ended up in a swampy area.

Dead is 47-year-old Robert Haney of New Mexico. The driver, 48-year-old John Eastes of Three Rivers was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where he was last listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.

Accident investigators in Cass County are waiting for blood tests and investigating.
