COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A quarter of a mill tax increase could get the o-k today from Branch County Commissioners. It would be a hike in the voter approved 9-1-1 millage up to the fully allowed one mill to cover pension fund costs and a new phone system.
And voters this fall could decide whether to support a three quarters of a mill levy for sheriff’s department operations. TheCountyCommissionhasn’t acted yet to put the public safety millage on the ballot. The issues were discussed at length Friday during a meeting of the County Board’s Finance Committee.
