The 30 Rock star's nephew takes part in sports at the West Genesee High School in Syracuse and Baldwin attended a fundraising event there on Sunday (03Jun12) to support activities for youngsters.
He umpired a charity softball game at the school and voiced his support for the non-profit events for kids, telling the crowd, ""These sports programs cost money and you should give yourself a round of applause for recognising how important it is... Now they talk about whole groups of kids are not going to have this sport or that sport. What you get on the menu in a public school now has shrunk dramatically...
""Communities that take action themselves, they take the bull by the horns themselves and form these private, these quasi-private not-for-profits, that's the way to go. But don't sit back and wait for the government to change things. You go ahead and do it.""
Last year (11), Baldwin donated $25,000 (£15,625) to help save the sports program at West Genesee High School.
