The Hairspray star was hit with one count of misdemeanour DUI on Tuesday (05Jun12), stemming from her arrest in April (6) after she accidentally drove into a police car.

Bynes faces a maximum of six months behind bars if convicted, but she has taken to Twitter.com to protest her innocence.

She writes, ""I was not in any hit and runs. I don't drink so the DUI is false.""

The 26 year old then sent a tweet to Obama in an appeal for justice, adding, ""Hey Barack Obama... I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end.""

District Attorney's officials are seeking a sentencing enhancement because Bynes allegedly refused to take either a breathalyzer or a blood test at the scene.
