American Webb Simpson won the U.S. Open at The Olympic Club inSan Franciscoat one-over-par for a one-shot victory and his first career win in a major.

The 26-year-old Simpson is the ninth consecutive first-time winner of a major tournament. Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson tied for second place. Tiger Woods, who was tied for first place after two rounds, got off to a terrible start yesterday, going six-over on the first six holes and ended up in a tie in 21st place at seven-over par. Phil Mickelson finished 16-over for the championship.
