COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - It’s only about six weeks before the start of this year’s Branch County Fair and officials with the event are talking up some of the changes fair-goers can expect to experience when the week long activities begin August Fifth.
Of course, the annual Fair Parade will still happen on the Saturday before Fair Week. However, that day this year will not include the combine demolition derby. Sunday, August Fifth, will see the crowning of the Fair King and Queen. Fair manager Jan Murphy says the kids will enjoy some of the free offerings, including the return of the petting zoo and a new event, pig races with the little piggy’s racing for Oreo cookies.
The animals are always a big part of the fair and Murphy looks for the poultry and rabbits to fill the barns, although swine and beef may be down some. Bottom line, it’s Branch County’s Annual Family Union.
