In a couple of minor roster moves Thursday, the Lions added a fourth quarterback to their roster, signing R.J. Archer from the Arena Football League. Archer got a tryout last month at Detroit’s rookie mini-camp. He’ll compete with undrafted free agent Kellen Moore for the number-3 quarterback job or end up on the Lion’s practice squad. To make room on the roster for Archer, Detroit released undrafted rookie wide receiver Troy Burrell from Wayne State.
Meanwhile, the NFL Referees Association has filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board against the NFL. After negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement between the two sides broke down earlier this month, the NFL announced that it would proceed immediately with the hiring and training of replacement officials.
