UNDATED (WKZO) -- There is more than just the heat to worry about, especially if you have chronic lung problems, but even If you don’t, it’s not good for you to inhale a lot of "ozone".
Today has been declared a clean air action day along the lakeshore and in Cass, Kalamazoo, Allegan, and Barry counties among others. Borgess E.R. Doctor William Clegg says it can be a bigger problem than the heat. The combination of heat and moisture and industrial pollutants cooks up into a nasty mix you are better off avoiding.
He says if you can’t find an excuse to avoid mowing, he has a few, including that its just too hot to work, and the grass is all brown and dead anyway.
The main one is you don’t want to pump all those hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. He doesn’t recommend putting a fan in your window and having it blow in either. He says you’re better off going to some place that has air conditioning.
