ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Tampa Bay ace David Price won a pitcher's duel with reigning AL Cy Young and MVP winner Justin Verlander as the Rays doubled up Detroit, 4-2. Price struck out seven over as many innings while allowing two runs to improve to 11-and-4. Former Tiger Fernando Rodney locked down his 22nd save along the way. Desmond Jennings hit a pair of solo home runs while Ben Zobrist added a jack of his own for the Rays, who snapped a four-game slide. Verlander allowed all four runs over six frames while striking out eight to drop to 8-and-5. Delmon Young blasted a solo dinger and Prince Fielder added an RBI groundout for Detroit. The Tigers have lost three of their last four and our now 3½ games behind second-place Cleveland and five back of the White Sox in the American League Central. Tonight, Rick Porcello will go up against Jeremy Hellickson, who missed the last two weeks with shoulder inflammation.
