Detroit saw its first spring training action with an 11-to-1 exhibition win over Florida Southern College. Newly acquired free agent slugger Prince Fielder knocked in Detroit’s first run with a two-out first inning double. And Miguel Cabrera, who moved from first to third base to make room for Fielder, easily handled a sharp grounder to third and fired to first to get the out to retire the side in the opening frame.

Detroit starting pitcher Andy Oliver gave up one hit, walked one and struck out six over three scoreless innings.

This afternoon, the Tigers open Grapefruit League play with a game against the Braves.
