DETROIT, MI (WKZO) -- April wasn’t as kind to the automakers as the past year has been, but remember that the sales numbers are a year to year comparison, and not a month to month trend. Sales at Ford dropped 5% last month, and 8% at GM where they saw fleet sales drop by 25%. Chrysler continues to outshine the others, with a 20% sales increase due partly to sales of the Dodge Avenger, which jumped 47%.
LMC Automotive Analyst Jeff Shuster says despite the numbers he says total sales suggest that the auto recovery is still on track. He says a lack of incentives and three fewer selling days this year contributed to the lower monthly numbers.
