ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) - Fleeing and eluding times two, possibly double trouble for a rural Angola man, who had his day begin early this morning with a pair of pursuit incidents involving authorities in northeast Indiana.
State Police say 33-year old Chad Schuch had his car stopped around 12:15 a.m. for speeding and unsafe lane movement on southbound I-69 near Ashley in Steuben County. However, as the trooper was about ready to check his license, Schuch sped away. The vehicle was pursued south to US 6 and then west across 6 into Noble County. When the chase reached Kendallville, the trooper terminated the pursuit.
At around 1:30 a.m., Kendallville Police located Schuch’s vehicle just south of town and as they attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Schuch once again sped away south toward Avilla, but at a T-intersection in Avilla, he ran into a tree.
Schuch was pinned in the wreckage for a time and was later flown to a Fort Wayne hospital with a broken leg. He was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.
