Police officers were called to the scene of Mary Kennedy's Mount Kisco home on Wednesday afternoon (16May12) to investigate a possible death.

She was found unresponsive and early reports suggest she died from an apparent suicide. She was 52.

No further details were available as WENN went to press.

Mary Richardson Kennedy had struggled with drink and drugs in recent years, and was arrested in August, 2010, on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), just a month after she was banned from the road following another motoring offence.

Kennedy, Jr., the son of assassinated politician Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew of assassinated U.S. president John F. Kennedy, filed for divorce from his wife of 16 years after her July, 2010, arrest.
