ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO) - What did hunters do before they had cell phones? A lot more of them probably stayed lost, cold and miserable, perhaps died because of it.
Yesterday a Bow Hunter in Allegan County found himself hanging upside down from his leg when climbing down from his hunting stand and getting his leg caught in a limb.
Matt Kelley says he was hanging from a rope and his knee when he tried the phone, which had been trouble getting a connection at his rural hunting spot. Fortunately he got through but was still left hanging for a while.
They used the GPS in his smart phone to track his location. He was treated at the scene. He is expected to be very sore, but make a full recovery. And he will probably never enter the woods again without a fully charged battery
