PORTAGE, MI (WKZO) - A former Portage School official has been arrested for embezzling from the district. They claim Marcia Zahrtab used the credit card she was issued as an Administrative Assistant with the district’s personnel department to buy office supplies. They say the discrepancies quickly surfaced in their normal oversight process when she didn’t provide the receipts to justify just over a thousand dollars in expenditures.
She was fired in early September, two months after the problems surfaced. She is charged with four felonies including embezzling over a thousand dollars and three counts of illegal use of a financial transaction device. She is free on bond.
