There are rules for voting in Tuesday's national, state and local elections

LANSING (WKZO) -- The Secretary of State has issued a news release, laying out the rules for voting, and for voter conduct at the polls  on Tuesday.

She says it’s prohibited to use still or video cameras in polling places, and that includes cell phone cameras. There is a ban on posting ballots on social media, and such exposure would mean rejection of the ballot and the voter from that election. There are exceptions for the media to take pictures at the polls, within certain restrictions.

Other rules include a ban on election materials, buttons, T-shirts and any other displays. Voters will be asked for a photo I.D. but if they can’t present one, they will be asked to sign an affidavit attesting to their identity.

Voters have until 4PM on Monday to request an absentee ballot, and until 8pm Tuesday night  at 8PM to return them.

Absent is any request for declaration of citizenship, which Secretary of State Ruth Johnson had insisted be included on ballots until she was challenged by the ACLU and ordered by the courts to desist.
