LANSING, MI (WTVB) - There has been another Fungal Meningitis death in Michigan. It’s another elderly woman, in this case an 88-year-old from Ingham County. That brings the total to 9 in Michigan, according to the Dept. of Community Health. There have been 64 other cases of meningitis, 54 epidural absesses, six joint infections and one stroke in Michigan caused by the tainted steroid shots prepared by a Massachusetts pharmacy.
The CDC’s Curtis Allen says they are now past what was believed to be their incubation period on the bug, but cases keep cropping up. There was also a new death in Indiana in the last 24-hours. 31 people in 19 states have now died as a result of the infections.
