LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Deer hunting season starts on Thursday and efforts by the Michigan DNR with rules, guidelines and education programs to make the hunt safer have really paid off.
DNR spokesman Tim Schweizer says the introduction of hunter’s orange greatly reduced the danger of being mistaken for a deer, but it also takes hunter awareness. He says you may be at greater risk from your tree stand than a gun. The firearm deer season in Michigan begins at dawn tomorrow and continues thru the end of the month.
