LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Deer season begins this morning, and this year it presents some brand new challenges as a result of EHD, a disease has killed thousands of deer in southwest Michigan, including Branch County. The question is will it put a damper on the deer hunt? The DNR really doesn’t know how many deer have died, but it’s not a disease that infects humans, its run its course thru the deer herd now that we are well past the first hard frost and the DNR’s Steve Chadwick says it shouldn’t dissuade hunters from hitting the woods. He says you can always head north if it’s and issue. Firearm deer season opens runs thru the end of the month.
