Conference realignment is continuing once more with the Big Ten set to expand again. Maryland has decided to leave the ACC for the Big Ten and Rutgers is reportedly set to depart the Big East and join Maryland in the conference with that announcement coming as soon as today.
The new additions will give the Big Ten a total of 14 members. It will be the second recent expansion, asNebraskais in its second season of play in the conference after leaving the Big 12. The new additions to the Big Ten would take effect with the 2014-15 seasons.
Top-ranked Indiana last night beat Georgia 66-to-53 at the Barclays Center in New York and the Hoosiers tonight will face off against Georgetown, which last night upset
around two hours in the first talks since November 11th, but did not exchange any new proposals.
There could reportedly be more meetings today. Last week, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman suggested a two-week break in labor talks, but the two sides met Monday night anyway. Regular season games have been cancelled through the end of November.
