COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, the winter sports schedule for county teams tips off tonight with a pair of girl’s basketball games with Bronson at home against Homer while Quincy hosts Hillsdale.
Andy Hatt returns for his fifth year as head coach at Bronson while at Quincy, Dana Clark will make her debut as head coach of the Lady Orioles.
Today on the Coach’s Corner, it’s Quincy boy’s basketball with new head coach Scott Rodesiler.
In volleyball, a trio of players from Branch County has been selected for All-State honors by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association. Leading the way is Coldwater’s BreeAnn Spangler, named to the Class A All-State second team while from Bronson, Kylei Ratkowski was third team All-State in Class-C and Emily Mayes was honorable mention. And Branch County was well represented on the Coaches Association All Region team. Making the grade from Coldwater on the Region 12 team along with Spangler were Morgan Klein, Lauren Outwater, and Megan Schorfhaar. Joining Ratkowski and Mayes for All Region recognition from Bronson were Skyler Sobeski and Alexa Ratkowski. And named from Union City were Martha Merchant and Brooke Johnson.
In middle school sports yesterday, in boy’s basketball, Bronson split its game at home against White Pigeon. The host Vikings won the eighth grade game 32-to-15 with 10 points for Justin Robinson. White Pigeon won the seventh grade game 30-to-14. Ethan Cossairt led Bronson with 5 points while Dakota Schlautmann had 5 rebounds.
