UNION CITY (WTVB) - Human bones found in the attic of a home being renovated will have their final resting place in Union City’s Riverside Cemetery.  A funeral service will take place on this coming Saturday, October 6 at 10:45 a.m. at the First Congregational Church. The casket containing the bones will be carried by horse-drawn hearse to Riverside Cemetery for interment.

The public is invited to attend the service with period dress from the 1800’s encouraged.  In January of this year, human bones were found beneath the attic floorboards of the John R. Zimmerman home on East High Street.  The home is now owned by the McIntosh family who recently purchased the home and are renovating it. The bones were given over to the local police department who sent the them to Michigan’s Forensic Lab in Lansing.  Tests on the bones revealed they came from four different individuals, 2 females and 2 males and are at least 100 years old, although they were never identified.
