KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioners have approved that new ordinance that greatly reduces the penalty for getting caught with a small amount of Marijuana that we have been talking about for three weeks. It doesn’t take effect for another 10 days.
Currently its a criminal violation that requires quite a bit of time and lab work to prosecute.
Under the new ordinance, violators will be issued a citation and if they plead guilty and pay a fine, and keep their nose clean during probaton on a first offence, they can get their record expunged.
Reductions in manpower in Public Safety make it necessary to reduce some Public Safety services, and apparently being tough on dope smokers is one of them.
