COLDWATER (WTVB) - With a little more than a month to go before the November election, a write-in candidate has announced he’s running for the office of Branch County Sheriff. Bill Heffner of Quincy, a part time deputy assigned to Quincy Schools and the Village of Quincy, said he filed his declaration of intent with the County Clerk’s office on Monday to make his candidacy official. Heffner hopes to find enough support to defeat Republican candidate Sheriff’s Department Sgt. John Pollack and Democrat Johnny Lopez of Quincy, right now a deputy with the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department. Current Branch County Sheriff Warren Canon is retiring after four decades with the department, including the last 12 years as Sheriff.
Heffner says with 35 years of law enforcement experience, he will be a Sheriff that is approachable, fosters positivity within all areas of public safety and by all means, be an advocate for justice.
