UNDATED (WTVB) - Can you believe it or maybe it won’t surprise you to learn that that nearly 24-hundred millionaires were among the Americans receiving unemployment checks in 2009. The statistic in a recent report from the Congressional Research Service is sparking calls to end benefit payments to high income earners. Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn called it "a case study in out-of-control spending." Lawmakers are considering the change as Congress looks at ways to cut a projected one-point-one trillion dollar deficit for the fiscal year that ended September 30th. Ending unemployment benefits for millionaires would save an estimated twenty million dollars over the next decade.
