MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA (WTVB) - A ‘snow-bird’ from Branch County has died in a collision with a Toll Road Maintenance pickup truck near Michigan City, Indiana midmorning Tuesday. State Troopers say they had gotten a report about a red SUV driving erratically shortly before the crash. 52-year-old Daniel Miller of LaPorte had just stepped to the rear of the maintenance vehicle to get a tool out of the back when the SUV, driven by 78-year-old Paul Kimbrough of Quimby road, Ovid Township, and Cape Coral, Florida struck him and the back of the truck. Miller died at the scene. Kimbrough died at the hospital. The maintenance truck had its warning lights activated, and there were signs that a work crew was ahead. They may never know what happened.
