BATTLE CREEK (WTVB) - It was a week ago today that a shooting incident occurred right across the street from Battle Creek Central high school. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the 17-year-old suspect, who doesn’t attend BCCHS, is facing a pair of felony counts. Now, students at the high school, with the backing of school officials have decided that they want to do a silent march to show the community what they really are. The theme is "We Are One," and on Monday, they posted a video on YouTube to announce the event.
They say that too often they have been defined by the actions of a few individuals and will march to redefine themselves. They have invited community members, parents, former alumni, former faculty, or anyone that just wants to support young people trying to make a difference to come march with them. They’re meeting at the high school main entrance at 9:30 a.m. Friday, starting the march at ten through the downtown area and ending up back at the high school football stadium for a special presentation.
