LANSING (WTVB) - Health officials now say that two Michigan residents have died from that national outbreak of fungal meningitis, bringing the national death toll to 7. They have confirmed 90-cases nationwide and more are anticipated. The Centers for Disease Control’s Dr. John Jernigan says they're working with state and local health departments to contact anyone in more than two dozen states who may have received tainted spinal injections.
The number of cases in Michigan jumped from 6 to 20 over the weekend. They say all the doses delivered to Michigan went to three clinics in the Detroit area and one in Traverse City. They say it’s not contagious, so only those who have received the steroid shots have to worry and they are all being tracked down and treated.
