Gasoline prices take a step higher in the latest report from Triple A Michigan. Their weekly survey finds gasoline up over three-cents a gallon statewide to $3.91 while drivers in metro Detroit saw an increase of just over a penny. The average in the metro area stands at $3.88 for regular unleaded which is over 50-cents higher compared to last year. Industry analysts had predicted a steady decline in prices due to the end of summer driving and the change by producers to a less expensive "winter blend" of gas.
GasBuddy.com reports gasoline prices ranging from $3.95 to $3.97 per gallon in Coldwater. Gas prices in Bronson range from $3.88 to $3.89.
In South Haven, a “gas war” Monday pushed prices below $3.00 a gallon at a number of stations.
