It was media day Tuesday for the Michigan State men’s team with coach Tom Izzo announcing that senior forward Derrick Nix and redshirt sophomore guard Russell Byrd were selected by their teammates as co-captains for the upcoming season. It’s Midnight Madness for the Spartans Friday night at the Breslin Center, where the doors open at 9:30 p.m. Michigan State begins regular season play overseas on November Ninth against Connecticut at Germany’s Ramstein Air Base.
