ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN (WTVB) - A comedic legend brought down the house last night at the latest in the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan's speaker series. It was a night of big laughs and bigger truths for the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan last night as members heard from television legend, author and comedian Bill Cosby. The Cos spoke for about 45 minutes about marriage, saying the differences between husbands and wives began with Adam and Eve. He said after 48 years of marriage, he has a room in his house, only because his wife lets him have it. Cosby also joked he's down to just one drawer, and it keeps moving. He sprinkled in refreshed bits of some of his classic comedy routines, repurposing a bit about questioning a child who is eating a cookie when they were told not to by turning it into a conversation between Adam and God after the apple was eaten in the Garden of Eden. Cosby joked that after being married for nearly five decades, that's the reason he won't eat any fruit his wife prepares for him. In speaking about Genesis, Cosby said "God said to Adam, you need a.." and paused for audience reaction. He followed it with "Those of you who said woman, after I leave, stay in your seat, someone's coming to read the Bible to you." Cosby left to a standing ovation. Martha Stewart will address the Economic Club next, with her speech scheduled for November 1st.
