COLDWATER (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, it was a close call yesterday but the season came to an end for the Coldwater girl’s golf team with their fourth place finish in the Division Three Regional at Vicksburg's Angels Crossing golf course. Only the top three teams advance to the State Finals. Coldwater’s team score was 400 while third place Marshall came in at 392, a stroke behind Plainwell. Hastings easily won the regional with a score of 367. Anna Wendorf led Coldwater with a score of 95 which put her in 3rd place as an individual, tied with a player from Vicksburg. The tie calls for a sudden-death playoff, which should have been decided yesterday but tournament organizers failed to realize there were two players that scored 95, so Anna has to return to Angels Crossing today to compete in the playoff to see who will advance to play in the State Finals. Other scores for Coldwater were Abby Donbrock with a 98, Cecelia Ward fired a 102, Katie Fair had a 105, and Jami Maxson rounded out the scoring with a 107.
