Representatives for the NHL and the players union held two meetings on Wednesday as the two sides attempt to reach a new collective bargaining agreement. The sides followed up a one-hour meeting with a session that lasted nearly four hours in New York. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly intimated that the union is working on a new proposal. Daly also said little progress was made yesterday. The NHL has already cancelled the first two weeks of the regular season, which was scheduled to begin tonight.
