UNDATED (WTVB) - October is National Cyber Security Awareness month and an expert is stressing the importance of using phrases, rather than words, in online passwords. Ann Wallace of theIdentityTheftAssistanceCentersays people should choose meaningful phrases, song lyrics, poetry or even acronyms that represent something personal. Simple words chosen from a dictionary are vulnerable to hackers, but proper names and combinations of them are much tougher to crack. Wallace says even after all of these years and the attention Cyber Security has gotten, she's still surprised to see so many people use simple passwords on multiple websites for years.
