LANSING (WTVB) - The state of Michigan has launched a website to help maneuver the new Autism Coverage Reimbursement Program. The program was signed into law earlier this year as part of legislation to reform insurance for those with autism. Under the new law, commercial and non-profit health insurance carriers and third party administrators can file claims for reimbursement from the Autism Coverage Fund. The fund will help offset the cost to health insurance carriers and businesses for providing coverage of autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and treatments. Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley who has an autistic child says, quote, "Michiganis well on its way to going from being one of the worst 10 states to raise a child with autism to being one of the best."
