It will be the Tigers vs. the Yankees in the American League Championship Series beginning tonight with an 8 o’clock start in the Bronx. New York qualified for the best of 7 ALCS with their 3-to-1 Game Five ALDS win last night over the Orioles.
It’s a playoffs rematch for the Tigers and Yankees after Detroit took out New York last year in the division round of the playoffs. Doug Fister goes to the mound tonight for Detroit against Andy Pettitte. Game Two, also at Yankee Stadium, is set for tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock. Meanwhile, it took the largest comeback in a do-or-die game in postseason history, but the defending world champion St. Louis Cardinals are back in the National League Championship Series for the second straight year. Trailing by six after three innings and two in the ninth, the Cardinals came roaring back with four runs in the final frame for a 9-to-7 victory over the Nationals in Washington. The NLCS between the Cardinals and the Giants starts tomorrow in San Francisco.
