LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and Secretary of State Ruth Johnson are suing 24 local clerks around the state. Their lawsuit seeks to have the deadline extended for when overseas absentee ballots have to be counted by the number of days the clerks were late getting them mailed out to military and other voters.
The vast majority of absentee ballots went out on time, as just 38 were delayed past the September 22nd deadline. A spokesman for Johnson said that's a big improvement from the August primary, when 155 ballots were late.
