Bolger says Democrats want to distract voters with scandal

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger (R-Marshall) tells WKZO Democrats are continuing to bring up this year's election rigging scandal in an attempt to distract voters.

"The Democrats are certainly spending a lot of money to keep the issue alive, to distract..." Bolger told WKZO. "But the issues that matter to voters are issues of solving problems that have been facing the state."

In an interview during Tuesday's Lori Moore Show on WKZO, Bolger said the election rigging scandal is a non-issue.

"There have been four reviews where Republicans, Democrats and non-partisans have each dismissed the complaints," Bolger said.

Earlier this year, Bolger admitted he and Rep. Roy Schmidt (R-Grand Rapids) planned his party jump from the Democratic party, and encouraged a stand-in candidate to run against him as a Democrat in the upcoming election.

Bolger's challenger, Democrat Bill Farmer, is calling for election law and ethics reforms.
