MACKINAC ISLAND (WKZO) -- An eight-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty on Michigan's Mackinac Island is in need of some fixing up.  That's why American Legion Post 299 is trying to raise money to fix the replica of Lady Liberty.

The statue is missing seven points of her crown and the copper on her skin is corroding.  The post says it hopes to raise more than 60-thousand dollars to restore the replica of the statue.

The group is also enlisting the help of local veterans service organizations as well as local Boy Scout and Girl Scouts troops.
