BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) - Chance Miller, the young Branch County boy who was said to have stormed off from his school bus stop early yesterday in Batavia Township and disappeared for the day, was found early last night sleeping under a pile of leaves in a ditch along Hodunk Road, about a mile from home and about half a mile from the bus stop. There were reports that the 10-year old was angry with his step-dad, and his parents were concerned because he is emotionally challenged. He was wet and cold but otherwise fine, being treated at the scene for hypothermia and then turned over to his parents.
The Sheriff’s Department had deployed State Police K-9’s and helicopters to find him and finally did, thanks to a volunteer with sharp surveillance skills who spotted chance in the ditch, ending a nearly 12 hour search.
