WILLIAMSPORT, PA (WTVB) – A team from Michigan begins play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania tonight. Great Lakes region champs Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores will go to bat against the Southwest region champs Lufkin, Texas.
Michigan advanced to the Little League World Series after a 6-3 win over Illinois in the Great Lakes Regional Tournament championship game last weekend.
Eight teams from the state have played in the Little League World Series, with Hamtramck taking the title in 1959.
