QUINCY, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports last night, in Big Eight Conference volleyball, Quincy dropped a 3-to-0 match at home to Homer. Gaby Masson had 8 kills and 3 aces while Ashton King had 11 digs with 10 digs for Andrea Ferrin.
Union City was a 3-to-0 winner at Reading. Martha Merchant had 7 kills, Marissa Mead had 16 digs, Jasmine McIntosh had 16 assists and Haley Harty had 8 aces. Union City improved to 6-and-1 in league play and 23-14-and-4 overall. Coming up Saturday, it’s the Big 8 Championship tournament at Jonesville and then on Monday, the state tournament starts including a Class-C district at Union City.
And in boy’s soccer, there were regional semifinal matches last night and Marshall, which ended Coldwater’s season last weekend, had its tournament run come to an end. The Redhawks, who scored a double overtime shootout victory Saturday over the Cardinals in the district final hosted by Coldwater, lost 2-to-0 to Dexter at the Vicksburg Division Two Regional.
On tonight’s high school schedule, in volleyball, it’s a quad meet at Bronson with the Lady Vikings hosting Sturgis, Battle Creek St. Philip and Berrien Springs.
